Welcome to San Diego Convention Center
Citing its excellence of service and products, plus its dramatic architecture and magnificent waterfront location, Meetings & Incentive Magazine named the San Diego Convention Center one of the world’s top three convention centers for 1999 and 2000. The facility is currently executing an expansion plan that will double the center’s size to more than 1.1 million square feet by fall 2001.

To help the center sharpen its competitive edge in the growing trade show industry, Centerplate is working with the SDCC Corp. and its architects to design a new generation of foodservice facilities that will enhance the convention center’s reputation for remarkable five-star catering services.

Displaying their passion for creative planning and presentation, the Centerplate catering staff tantalizes guests with a wide range of tastes — from California Nouveau and Pacific Rim cuisine to authentic Mexican fare and supremely decadent desserts.

Meticulous preparation, coupled with well-trained servers, is evident throughout the foodservice operation — whether it’s dinner for attendees or exclusive catering for 250 celebrities. A full array of services offers meeting planners "one-stop-shopping" for theme creation, staging and props, entertainment and recreation, spousal activities, and world-renowned menu design. An important part of pre-event planning includes an invitation to our Chef’s Table where key kitchen staff present appetizers, entrees, and desserts for sampling and evaluation.

From nostalgia and sports themes to celebration and futuristic themes, exhibit hall foodservice stations can be tailored to blend with almost any creative concept. Our community involvement includes intern and mentoring programs with area schools that focus on foodservice and hospitality instruction. Our human resources staff supports local job fairs, in addition to managing the thorough orientation and training of new employees to meet the high standards of Centerplate.
